About Vancouver Island Ferry Guide
A practical, independent guide to ferry travel between Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island, written from Tsawwassen — the community at the foot of the ferry causeway.
What this site is
Vancouver Island Ferry Guide covers the routes people actually search for: Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay (Victoria), Tsawwassen to Duke Point (Nanaimo), and Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay. Around those routes we answer the planning questions that decide whether a trip goes smoothly: where to park at Tsawwassen, how to get there from YVR, how early to arrive, and what to do with a spare hour in South Delta.
What this site is not
We are not BC Ferries and we are not affiliated with any ferry operator. Schedules, fares, reservations, and parking rates are set by the operator and change with seasons. We link to official sources and date every page, but you should always confirm sailing times and prices with the operator before you travel.
How we pay for it
The site is supported by our own guest suite in Tsawwassen — the upper floor of the home we live in, listed on Airbnb, Booking.com, and Vrbo. Where a guide mentions places to stay, we say so plainly and link to those listings. We do not run display ads and we do not take commission from the ferry operator.
Accuracy
Every guide shows a last-updated date. Figures such as sailing times, parking rates, and check-in cut-offs are taken from operator pages at the time of writing and reviewed periodically. If you spot something out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
